Why I Love Louie

French Bulldogs are one of the most humorous pets you will find. They always seem to have a great expression that says, WOW! This expression has given this breed the title, 'Little Clown'. French Bulldogs are excellent house pets, and of course they are very good with children and other breeds of dogs. French Bulldogs are a smooth coated breed. The French Bulldog has the appearance of an intelligent, alert, active and curious nature. French Bulldogs are generally muscular, compact dogs with a snub nose, smooth coat and solid bone. The dog's overall physical appearance is recognized for its bat like ears that are rounded on the top and wide at the base.

French Bulldogs are family dogs but they do better with older children and they act like hunters when they see mice or other small animals. French bulldogs are good watchdogs, but are still a friendly breed. They make friends quite easily and are happy to wag their short tails at strangers. French bulldogs are a pleasant and easy to care for companion. Very playful, affectionate, sweet and absolutely hilarious, French bulldogs have a very comical personality and love to clown around.

French Bulldogs are adaptable enough to be either a rural or an urban pet, but it's inarguable that few dog breeds are better suited to life in a big city. They revel in the luxuries of an urban life style, and are small enough to be easily tucked into cabs or carried through stores. French bulldogs are house dogs and their niche in life is to be an adored pet. He is happy and playful, loves children but is equally content to live with a single special person. French Bulldogs are on the small side. They have compact, big-boned, muscular frames with smooth coats and bat-like ears.

French Bulldogs are little "hams" that love to be the center of everyone's attention. They love to go to the park or just around the block. French Bulldogs are perfect for a city life. They shed very little, and do not require much space. French Bulldogs are compatible with other pets. They desire a lot of attention from their loved ones.

French bulldogs are also top heavy and will sink in water. They cannot swim but have been known to enthusiastically chase waterfowl into the water putting themselves in a dangerous predicament. French Bulldogs are small to medium dogs that stand up to 12 1/2 inches at the shoulder and can weigh up to 27 1/2 pounds. French Bulldogs love to eat, so their diet should be monitored to keep them from becoming overweight. French Bulldogs are very sensitive to any extreme temperatures, high or low. Like English Bulldogs, they can easily get heat stroke if they're in high temperatures.

Frenchies can suffer from Von Willebrand's disease (VWD), a bleeding syndrome similar to Hemophilia in humans which can impede their clotting. In conjunction to this, French Bulldogs may also suffer from thyroid condition. French Bulldogs may have eye issues. Screening of prospective breeding candidates through CERF (the Canine Eye Registration Foundation) or by a canine eye specialist can help to eliminate instances of these issues in offspring. Frenchies have less tolerance to heat, exercise, and stress, compared to the long-nosed breeds. Keep your French Bulldog cool in warm weather (to avoid overheating), warm in cool weather, and avoid strenuous exercise (over exhaustion).

Frenchies in any environment have one overwhelming need, and that is to be in close contact with the person they love. Due to their inability to tolerate either extreme cold or extreme heat, it is not a consideration to house your dog outdoors. Frenchies are like potato chips , you can't have just one . They are the true Clown Dog and will bring you joy and amusement .
