The World of Hyboria has Just Arrived

The eagerly awaited MMORPG of the year, Age of Conan, has been released this month by Scandanvian MMORPG creator Funcom.

Over half a million dedicated players signed up for the game’s Beta testing period, a landmarked which could not be dreamed of with their initial MMORPG Anarchy Online. Funcom expanded its previous team to include many new staff, many of which had a previous passion for the work of Robert E. Howard. During the development period Funcom often produced clips from their in-house team and the advances being made with the game.

The major theme of Age of Conan, parallel to that of the Conan series, is gore and bloodshed with no lack of either. Staying true to the concept put forward by Howard, players are immersed into a world where mercy is not an option.

Age of Conan is not a fairytale land in which good must triumph over adversity, but rather a moral challenge for all. Age of Conan is a daunting world in which decisions are often hard to make and the fairytale world is very far away. Hyboria is worlds apart from games such as World of Warcraft and Warhammer Online.

AoC provides a realistic combat system completely different from the traditional notion of Dungeons and Dragons type systems. This poses a new experience for all players who are restricted with their options in other games.

Hyboria is one of the 21st century’s most anticipated realms which is perfectly reflected in the press attention the game has received. AoC has received pre-launch credit from various prestigious sources, and the sentiments are widely echoed by those who have tested the game.
