A Good Mattress Is Essential To A Good Night’s Sleep
By article82@yahoo.com | August 28, 2010
Summary: An article describing how important a mattress can be for anyone’s sleep.
If you are like many people today, you cannot figure out why you are so tired all the time. You go to bed at a decent time, and wake up seven or eight hours later. By all accounts, you should feel well rested.
But it’s not quite so simple. What you may not realize, though, is your mattress could actually be making you tired or fatigued. Without a good mattress, a good night’s sleep is nothing more than a dream.
The solution in a nutshell? Find out what qualities you need to look for in a mattress. Then, purchase a perfectly balanced mattress for your needs so your dream can become a reality.
Here’s what happens with the wrong mattress. Most people do not realize that the wrong mattress will keep them distracted throughout the night. If you sleep with a significant other, his or her sleeping patterns can greatly affect your sleep. If he or she gets up to go to the bathroom, or even turns in the bed, you will feel it. You may not realize it, but it takes you out of a deep sleep—ultimately keeping you from feeling well rested the next day.
A good mattress can prevent this from occurring. Choose a mattress that uses energy-absorbing technology. Such a mattress will relieve pressure, so you will not have to absorb your partner’s movements. That means you will sleep soundly, even if your partner gets up to go to the restroom or tosses and turns constantly throughout the night.
Many people fail to realize the importance of support and alignment. Most people purchase mattresses that do not offer any contouring support. A good mattress is firm in some places, while staying soft in others. This allows your hips, shoulders, and other body parts to be comfortably absorbed into the mattress. And when your hips and shoulders sink into the mattress, your body will become perfectly aligned.
When your body is perfectly aligned, you are able to drift off to sleep faster. In addition, a perfectly aligned body will help you stay asleep. You won’t have to worry about waking up in the middle of the night to get readjusted. Not only will it help you sleep, but this type of mattress will also be kind to your muscles. You won’t wake up with those annoying aches and pains that plague people who sleep on sub-standard mattresses.
People also need to consider pressure points when they purchase a mattress. Most traditional mattress companies ignore pressure points completely when they design their mattresses. If you sleep on a mattress that ignores pressure points, you will have at least some degree of poor circulation and interrupted sleep during the night. Find a mattress that distributes your weight evenly—this distribution will relieve those pressure points, so you will stop tossing and turning. The less you toss and turn, the more you will sleep.
If you wake up feeling tired, it’s time to make a change. Put a good mattress in the bedroom and you will feel well rested and ready to go as soon as the alarm goes off in the morning. Choose a mattress that has all of these qualities—perhaps a luxurious Tempur-Pedic mattress—and you will feel like a new person after the first night.

Employers Fight to Retain their Talent
By cassandrac2002 | August 27, 2010
The latest Hays Quarterly Report reveals that an increasing number of employers in Singapore are willing to counter offer in efforts to retain their staff.
“Over the past few months, the number of vacancies has been steadily increasing. Rising vacancy activity naturally leads to a spike in candidate interest, particularly from those quality passive candidates that keep an eye on the market,” says Chris Mead, General Manager of Hays in Singapore.
“Many employers are aware of the skill shortages but take it for granted their staff will remain loyal. Unless they have communicated career development plans clearly, employees are likely to question their future and begin to explore the rising number of opportunities on the market.
“For employers with a strong talent pool, this means you need to do everything you can to retain your team before they seek or attract interest from outside the business,” he said.
“Counter offers are on the rise. This trend is likely to continue over the next 12 months as employers fight to retain their key talent.”
According to the July – September Hays Quarterly Report, employers will be looking to recruit the following skills:
Accountancy & Finance: Candidates with strong MAS or international regulatory experience are in high demand as are Internal Auditors and Product Controllers.
Within commerce and industry, the main area of demand is in the retail and FMCG sectors. Professional services firms are also ramping up their hiring activities and there are more opportunities within Corporate Finance. The property and construction sectors are actively hiring Finance Managers, Business Development Managers and Project Managers.
Banking: Settlement candidates with good derivatives product knowledge are in demand due to the migration of such roles from Europe to Singapore. There is also high demand for experienced Project Managers and Business Analysts with specific product knowledge.
Operational Risk and Compliance professionals with solid relevant experience in the region are in continued demand, especially at mid and senior levels, with the heightened state of regulatory and controls environment.
Construction: The civil and infrastructure sector is recovering quickly, fuelled by the underground rail network and the MRT line, which is scheduled for completion in 2013.
Specific senior positions are still highly sought on a needs basis. From a contractor’s perspective, the emphasis is on local experience.
Finance Technology: Java, C++ Developers and C# Developers are in high demand for work on projects to build in-house low latency, high frequency real time trading systems.
The Market and Credit Risk areas of investment banks are also in need of extra resources as the need to integrate risk systems into emerging markets continues. Adding to this is the demand for more bespoke solutions around obtaining real-time data feeds.
Information Technology: A number of large scale projects have resulted in demand for strong technical candidates, particularly within the banking, telecom and energy sectors. Candidates with more than five years of experience in Oracle, JAVA, C# and .Net are also in demand. There are a variety of roles available, including Developers and Project Managers.
Oil & Gas: Singapore continues to strengthen its reputation as a premier location for FPSO conversions as well as for building offshore support vessels. These niche areas are both busy as more exploration projects are put back on the agenda following the recession.
There is a steady increase of recruitment activity in both the marine and shipping sectors. Experienced EPC and Design personnel are also in high demand.
Pharma: There has been a noticeable increase in the number of bio-manufacturing positions, which stems from continued inward investment in the area. Abbott Nutrition’s recently opened powder plant has played a large role. Many more companies are planning on doing the same over the next year or so in order to take advantage of economies of scale and reduced costs per hire.
Property: Project Managers as well as Facilities Managers are needed to assist large multinational companies move from their existing buildings to brand new buildings. Candidates in high demand for these roles are those with more than six years experience in a Project Management or Facilities Management role in Singapore, ideally delivering commercial interior or data centre projects for a large corporate, banking or IT space.
Sales & Marketing: Firms across many industries are confidently investing in sales and marketing talent. There is a common focus on professionals that will have an immediate and measurable impact on the firm’s bottom line. As a result, front line Sales Executives with a solid track record and good industry contacts continue to be in high demand.
With the FMCG industry, companies are investing heavily in their brand and product management. This is set to continue for the remainder of 2010.

The critical path to a killer resume
By Kim786 | August 27, 2010
What is a killer resume? I can tell you what it’s not. It’s not the flashiest, fanciest, most unusual or best designed resume. A killer resume is a resume that gets you an interview. Period. What gets you that interview?
The ability to concisely, articulately and succinctly demonstrate that you can solve the hiring manager’s problem or add value to the company.
But how do you know what that problem is or what value they need? Here is where the proverbial rubber meets the road. It’s up to you to find this out and then to tailor your resume (at least somewhat) to demonstrate this for each job you apply to. But what if you can’t find this information out? What if you are simply answering a blind ad on a job site? Then you make your best guess.
Securing an interview is the ONLY reason to create a resume. And the only way to secure the interview is to demonstrate the above.
And you have 15 seconds tops to do that in. Huh? That’s right. The BEST of resumes are only read for an average of 15 seconds? That’s what the statistics say. Now, look at your watch – measure 15 seconds. Not a lot of time is it?
How can you possibly portray your experience, qualifications, achievements, personality, etc. in 15 seconds? You can. And if you want an interview, you must.
To help you, I’ve put together a list of Top 10 Tips. If you follow these you’re sure to make your ’15 seconds of fame’ count (and you may even get an interview out of it.) In fact, many of my clients report going from not receiving a call for an interview in months to receiving multiple calls per day once they reformat their resume using these tips.
Go ahead. I dare you. You have nothing to lose, and if my clients’ past experience is any indication, everything to gain.
So, in ascending order of importance:
10.) How far is too far?
The only reason to go back more than 10 years is to demonstrate that you have experience that is beneficial to the job you are applying for, that you have not done in recent times. Otherwise, there is no need. Would you really want to do a job you did 10 years ago?
9.) The company does what?
Itʼs very important to let the reader know what your previous employers do, especially if youʼre in a position of responsibility,. A sentence or two on the size of the company, the companyʼs products and any other relevant information helps the hiring manager
understand your background in more depth.
8.) Donʼt look like a job hopper when youʼre not!
Many candidates list different positions within 1 company as completely separate jobs,
repeating the company name, etc. Interviewers are basically lazy (and you would be too if
you had the number of resumes to read that they do at the moment). At first glance they
may not realize that youʼve been promoted every 18 months to 2 years (which is a good
thing). They may interpret your format to mean that youʼve changed jobs every 18 months
to 2 years (not such a good thing). The proper format is to list the company name and details once
and make it stand out (larger font, Bold and Underlined, etc). Then list each position
underneath and make it obvious that they are positions within the same company.
7.) How long is too long?
Remember the 15 second rule? Resumes should be from 1 – 2 pages in the United States and up to 4 (at the most!) pages elsewhere in the world, depending on your level of experience. Less is more, as long as itʼs impactful. The only exception to this is a traditional Curriculum Vitae, which would be used in academia or scientific fields.
6.) A picture tells 1,000 words.
Except on resumes. The rule of thumb here is never including your picture on your resume. Ever. Full stop. Period. The end.
5.) Ditto
In regards to including your age, marital status, children or pets names (donʼt laugh, Iʼve
seen more than 1!) see #6.
4.) Form over substance.
Again, remember the 15 second rule? Make it easy for the interviewer to read your
resume and keep it from the bin. Use lots of white space, put paragraphs into bullet points,
donʼt use a lot of different fonts, standardize your presentation and be concise and
articulate in your descriptions.
3.) Once is never enough.
One standard resume is generally not sufficient to apply for every role you look at. I
encourage my candidates to have 2 – 3 resumes highlighting different areas of expertise.
But always, always always customize your resume to the job you are applying for.
2.) Iʼll call you.
Make sure that you have your contact details (name, phone number and email are
sufficient these days) in your header or at least on the top of your first page. Donʼt make
the interviewer struggle to figure out how to contact you or they may just say, “next!”
Also, make sure that you have voice mail turned on if youʼre actively looking (with an
appropriate message). And nowadays itʼs perfectly appropriate to include your Linkedin
Profile in your contact details as well.
1.) Substance over form
The most important thing on your resume is not your duties and responsibilities, not your
education, awards or qualifications. The most important thing on your resume is your
achievements. Your achievements should be specific accomplishments that are a result of
your doing your job or (preferably) going above and beyond your job description. They are
what separates you from others with the same experience.
Having specific, quantifiable, robust achievements will do more to differentiate your resume from the hundreds of other applying for the same roles than anything else. Get this right and you will have hiring managers calling you within hours to set up interviews.
Achievements are:
The end result of a project
A demonstration of your going ‘above and beyond’
An accolade or award
Typically quantifiable
Achievements are NOT:
A process procedure
Part of your job description
Expected as a routine part of your daily work
Bonus: I know I shouldnʼt have to say this but I must, given the number of spelling and
grammatical errors I see on resumes. Spell check!!! Itʼs easy enough to do with todayʼs
software. Itʼs also a good idea to have at least 3 people look it over, including at least one
person that has no idea what you actually do. Many human resources people do the first
screen on roles that they are not that familiar with. Having someone unfamiliar with what
you do ensures that anyone can follow your resume.
Your resume doesnʼt need to win awards. What it does need to do is keep the reader engaged long enough to have him or her say, “I need to call this person for an interview.”
By following these simple steps you will come one step closer to hearing those words you
long for, “Youʼre hired!”
Kim Seeling Smith speaks, trains, coaches and writes on Staff Retention and <a href=”http://www.MyCriticalPath.com“> Career Management</a> issues after having spent 15 years as a recruiter studying the differences between those talented and capable people who successfully reach their career goals and those equally talented and capable people who plateau or senselessly slide backwards as they near them. www.MyCriticalPath.com

Outdoor Tiki Torches Always a Fun and Enjoyable Addition to Any Home or Party
By hirenmodi | August 27, 2010
Today tiki torches are made of almost anything: glass, ceramic, copper, brass, steel, and of course, bamboo. Your preference will depend on your personal taste and your garden or patio decor. But how do you narrow down the choices?
The flames on the tiki torch dance in the warm, evening breeze while the thick, rich scent of island flowers fills the night air and gentle sounds of quiet waves lap the beach. Ahhhh . . . paradise!
And what would paradise be without tiki torches? They just go together so well. A backyard garden or deck wouldn’t be complete without at least one tiki torch! Maybe because they’ve been around so long….
Not so long ago tiki torches were still the primary source of light on many islands. They were constructed of bamboo and fueled with oil. Today, though, tiki torches are made of many different types of materials and even the fuels are varied. Want to know more? Just keep following along!
First decide what style you want. For example, if your tastes are more eclectic or art deco, you might appreciate ceramic tiki torches, usually very colorful. In fact, they can become your focal point instead of just a subtle side light. Since ceramic is breakable you’ll have to be more careful when cleaning and storing these tiki torches.
Another decision: do you want the traditional in-ground variety, table top, floor standing, deck rail attachments or . . . ? Yes, tiki torches have come a long way!
What about fuel sources? Some tiki torches are now battery-operated and have no flame. These torches can be used indoors and outdoors as well. This is an especially intelligent choice when you have a lot of children around, and they look so real it’s hard to tell the difference! And now another choice just in time for the energy crisis – you can get a solar tiki torch!
Oh, but you’re feeling a little exotic? Want to run around your own little patch of “jungle” and sing like Tarzan? Sounds like you’ll want the traditional favorite: the bamboo tiki torch. They’re the original tiki torch and the most authentic . . . you’ll be beating your chest in no time!
All tiki torches are easy to maintain and store. To clean a bamboo tiki torch you just need mild soap, water, and a rag. When storing your tiki torches, stand them upright if you don’t drain the fuel. You can lay the torches on their sides if you drain and store the fuel separately, but make sure to lay them on tarps or other plastic to prevent scratches to the torches.
Tiki torches are always a fun and entertaining addition to any home or party. They’re always ready for whatever mood you’re in. Kind of like a really good friend, someone you can just be yourself with . . . while you’re beating your chest and swinging from trees, of course!

By hayden_mark20 | August 27, 2010
Two souls but one heart that beats for each other is the essence of marriage. Two beings tied in one knot starting their new life with some new promises to be with each other in their happiness or in pain- marriage is the sacred relationship shared by two souls. Marriage is all about the bountiful of love for each other in their heart to never be apart from each other. In few words marriage is all about the unique relationship shared by two individuals with the promise to be with one another in every moment, good or bad. Therefore when it comes to present your beloved the wedding gift or the gift on your 1st anniversary, it is mandatory to choose the unique gift for this unique day for that special person of your life. Make this day of 1st anniversary an exclusive occasion for your better half by gifting him/her the sweetest and unforgettable present. The present for 1st anniversary assists you in making the relationship bonds stronger. The wedding gift is undoubtedly essential but the gift for your 1st anniversary is important and significant as well to show your true love and the reflection of your admiration for your soul-mate. This anniversary gift reflects the feelings you have felt for her through this span of time that your better half has made more beautiful and smoother for you to live with his/her love and understanding. It is unlike the other anniversaries and therefore the delicacy of this event should be bear in mind while choosing any gift for your soul-mate. Pick up the one possessing noteworthy value and excessive care.
Your 1st anniversary symbolizes the feel of being together for a whole year successfully with a great bonding as well as reminds you both of the sweet and unforgettable moments of your relationship. Your soul-mate has shared a whole year with you with absolute understanding and faith on you. So is not it your duty to make your better half’s day unforgettable with that special gift on your anniversary? Obviously yes, this significance of the day makes it essential for you to make it more special with that special gift for your special someone.
To make selection of the present for your 1st anniversary is truly not a simple task like just going to any shop and purchasing a make-up item for your lady. The theory which controls the choice of the anniversary present should be appropriate for the relationship you share with your life partner. This gift is the reflection of your feelings for her. Hence, it should be very exclusive in order to make this occasion unforgettable. Make selection of gifts keeping her choices in your mind to make it more special. In other way, the present should be enough expressive to say her about your cherished thoughts for her via this gift.
You can easily give your lady some traditional gift as your wedding gift or 1st anniversary gift. If your soul-mate loves reading, then nothing can be best than presenting her the book of her favorite author. This will indeed reflect how you value her interests. Again gifting handmade items like photo frames, lamp shades, chandeliers can also work well to give your expression a great platform. It is must to realize about the romantic binding that ties you both together into one relation. Hence, every action should be helpful in making your bond stronger. The gift is actually the symbol of renewing the warm feelings that both of you possess in your hearts. This will take you back into your memory lanes to cherish those lovely moments spent together.

Medical Transcription Services – How Medical Transcription Services Works
By annettealison | August 27, 2010
To start the medical transcription process, physicians have to dictate their notes into a recording device. The two most popular options today are toll-free phone lines or hand held digital recorders, and nearly all Transcription services support both methods. There are not significant reasons to choose one over the other. Both are easy to use and allow you to record multiple patients notes in one session. Both are very portable, thanks to cell phones. Hand held recorders do carry an additional hardware cost, but they often have better sound quality than telephone dictation. Because some Services charge different rates depending on the quality of your recordings, better audio quality can help you save in the long run. Some practices still use audio cassettes to record notes, but their numbers are dwindling as are the number of services who accept cassette tapes for transcription.
There are several methods for sending audio recordings and transcripts to and from a transcription service provider. Which ever you choose, make sure there is an emphasis on security: these communications must be secure and protected to ensure patient confidentiality. Digital hand held users will need to submit their audio recordings to the provider via the Internet. That can be done through a secure web site via a file transfer protocol (FTP) client, using custom software from the service provider, or even through encrypted email. Obviously, telephone-based medical services takes one less step as dictated notes are recorded directly on to the providers servers.
Once the notes are transcribed, they are most commonly returned as Microsoft Word files, but can be converted to PDF or other text formats if you prefer. They can then be delivered via any of the methods mentioned above: secure web sites, FTP, custom software, or encrypted email. Delivery via fax is rarer, but you can still find providers who offer fax delivery.
More comprehensive services provide more than just a back and forth transmission of documents. Instead, they offer an online system that stores both the audio files and transcripts, organizes them by date, doctor, or patient, and tracks their progress as they are being transcribed. These services are more like content management systems than simple transcription, and while they are more expensive, the management benefits they provide can be beneficial to busy practices. Finally, there are some well established and experienced service California is providing useful services to their clients. For more information and details, please visit their valuable web site.

Mixing Tips the Professionals Don’t Want You to Know
By kbjrecords | August 27, 2010
Getting the best results out of music mastering starts with the recording session. Most musicians record their music in their very own home studios. Contrary to belief, it is more than possible to achieve a professional recording out of a home studio, but mastering will be needed. For those of you who think that music mastering is an unnecessary expense in your production budget, think again. If professional musicians using thousands of dollars worth of equipment are still sending their music off to be mastered, how can you compete with them without mastering your music?
Music Mastering can work wonders for your music, but you have to do your part. The better your music sounds before the mastering engineer gets your music, the better your music will sound after it has been mastered. Below you will find tips that will help you better prepare your music for maximum results out of mastering.
High Sample Rate: (before you start recording)
- Sample Rate refers to the amount of Hz that a song is formatted in. CDs can only read 44.100Hz so most recording programs automatically record your music in this sample rate. However, you can manually raise the sample rate in your recording programs if your hardware can support the higher rate. The higher the sample rate, the better the quality of your music. Sample rates usually range from 44.100 to 192.000 Hz. Remember the higher the sample rate, the harder it is on your computer so don’t get carried away with it. I recommend a good 48.000Hz sample rate. You should set your sample rate before you start recording a song. A higher sample rate will not only create a higher quality recording but you will receive better results out of the mastering process. Remember you can burn a song with a sample rate higher than 44.100Hz to a CD but it will not play in a CD player. If you are going to get the song mastered, do not convert it to a lower sample rate for CD play. Instead burn it to a disc in the sample rate that it was recorded in, and give it to the mastering engineer. This will give better results out of the mastering process.
Tracking Correctly: (during the recording process)
- Many producers make the mistake of recording their instrumentals, mixing them down to one stereo wave, and then giving them to an artist so that vocals can be added. This is a common mistake that greatly reduces the quality of mastering. In order to track a song correctly you should record all of your tracks separately (including the instrumental) and should not mix any of them down to one stereo wave until you have completely mixed the entire song and are ready to add it to CD or give it to a mastering engineer.
No Compression: (during the mixing process)
- When mixing a song some producers get caught up in trying to make the song sound perfect. Although it is wise to make the song sound as great as possible before mastering begins, one must remember not to get carried away with it. It is okay to use effects in your mix but a producer’s main concern should be with the EQ of the song. Do not try to obtain perfection through compression. Nothing hurts mastering results worse than a song that has already been compressed too much. There should be no compression added to a song before mastering. You may add minor compression to some separate tracks in the mix but this should be done in moderation by someone experienced in compression. Never Compress the overall stereo wave or master track. Remember, do not try to achieve loudness in the song during the mixing process. True loudness cannot be achieved except through compression. It is the mastering engineer’s responsibility to get your song up to the correct loudness.
Distortion (during the mixing process)
- As discussed in the above section, many producer’s try to achieve loudness in the song when mixing. Some producer’s end up mixing the song too loud. When this is done some tracks end up distorted. Remember, just because you can’t hear the distortion does not mean that it is not there. The mastering process tends to make your songs louder. As a result, distortion may be heard clearer after the mastering process It is very important for you to look over your mix and make sure that none of the track meters are distorting or clipping the red. If any of them are, turn them down so that they will not clip. Occasionally this may cause you to have to remix the song so it is good practice to stay on top of this while mixing the song the fist time around. The master track should also be free of distortion and clipping.
Overall Volume
- The overall volume of your song, after you have mixed it down to one stereo wave, should reach no higher than -3db. The mastering engineer will need to have a little headroom to work with while mastering your song. If your song is too much louder than -3db it becomes harder for he/she to master your song perfectly without distortion. You can achieve this volume by simply adjusting the volume of the master track during the mix.

How to Choose a Right Hockey Stick
By winstonbeiler16n | August 27, 2010
Field hockey is becoming more and more popular in these years and you can see the hockey goods sold in the sporting goods stores, such as Akgee Protection, in all places. If you are also becoming interested in it and going to buy some hockey goods to practice, then the things below are necessary for you to read, especially the item you want to buy turns out to be a hockey stick – it is the most important thing in a game.
The first thing we need to take a serious consideration is surely the size of the hockey stick, which includes the thickness, the weight, and the face size. There are different kinds of sticks designed for different people. Generally speaking, it is better for children and young players to use a smaller stick so that they can control it more flexibly. Adult size is for those big guys, who have enough skill and enough strength to maneuver the stick well. And there are also sticks designed specially for women. Just choose the right size when you are picking out a hockey stick.
The second thing we need to think about is the length of the stick, which is the fundamental determining factor that tells a right hockey stick or not. Because you should be able to maneuver the stick with ease so as to get a good defensive or offensive area. As for how tall the stick should be, when you are standing in shoes or socks on skates, the stick should reach up between your chin and nose. If you act as a defenseman, a longer stick would be more preferred, because the added stick height allows you to poke the puck away from rushing forwards.
Thirdly, what we need to consider is the flexibility of a hockey stick. Sticks that are made of different material are different in flexibility. Commonly, it would make us take more effort to maneuver a stick in less flexibility. So young players should use sticks with good flexibility and leave hard sticks to those strong guys.
The fourth thing we need to think about is our body types. If you tend to stand a little too erect during the game, a short hockey stick would be ideal for you. And if you bend over too much when playing, you should choose a longer one so that you can hold your balance.
The last thing, not to consider, but to remind you, is that when you get the right stick, just try to keep it well. Don’t put it in a ventilated, dry place, because that would make the stick loss its flexibility. May you enjoy the hot field hockey.
